Plan for smooth movement of traffic in Gurgaon

CHANDIGARH, October 25 The Haryana Government is mooting a plan for smooth movement of traffic throughout the city of Guragaon and a consultant named Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd. has been engaged for this purpose. The company, after conducting a survey, today presented the draft of 'Integrated mobility plan for Gurgaon-Manesar urban complex.'
The Director Town and Country Planning SS Dhillon was also present on the occasion when the powerpoint presentation was made by the company. Suggestions for improvement in the mobility plan have been invited from the local officers.
Mr Dhillon asked the officers to submit their suggestions on draft plan by 10th November so that the plan could be finalized. He said that similar plan was being prepared by the same company for Faridabad also.
The consultant company has prepared short term, medium and long term
draft mobility plan for Gurgaon which is divided into three phases. As per the proposed draft, the first phase is from 2008 to 2011, the second from 2011 to 2017 and the third phase is from 2017 to 2021.
Mr Dhillon told that while preparing this mobility plan, the population of Gurgaon is expected to increase upto 43 lakh by 2021 has been taken into consideration and by 2031, 59 lakh people are estimated to be employed in Gurgaon. Apart from this, the traffic is also expected to pass through Gurgaon in high volume because of Reliance SEZ and other Economic Zones being developed surrounding the city.
On the basis of the survey the company has laid down the requirements needed for
making the movement of citizens and cargo smooth. They have assessed the volume of current traffic passing through the city, the parking facilities, road infrastructure, public transport system and the fatality rate. Based on this analysis and the prospects of growth, the company has made proposals in their draft plan which was presented before the district officers.
In this plan, the ongoing projects like laying of metro corridor up to
Sushant lok, construction of three peripheral roads besides KMP expressway for better connectivity with Delhi were also highlighted.
During the presentation it was informed that the state government has introduced city bus service in Gurgaon and presently 18 buses were plying on various routes. By the end of this financial year, the number of these city buses was proposed to increase upto 40.
The Government has a proposal to ply 100 buses into the city and the bus
queue shelters would be got erected by HUDA. 150 bus queue shelters
would be constructed in the city on the places identified by the GM
roadways.
Three bus stands were proposed to be constructed in the city at the site near Rajiv Chowk, Sector 29 and the third one near village Panchgaon on NH-8. the company has proposed 8 foot over bridge on expressway. th five foot over bridges have been approved and the work for two such bridges had already been allotted.
