‘GRAND PARENTS’ AND ‘SENIOR CITIZENS’ CULTURAL MEET

A cultural meet of grand parents of our scholars and senior citizens of Panchkula, was held in Satluj Public School, Junior Wing, Sector 2, Panchkula on December 6 at 11.00 a.m.
About 700 grand parents of the school students and senior citizens of Panchkula joined together to sing, dance, recite poems, crack jokes and had Punjabi and Haryanvi winter food such as choori, sarson saag, ganna rass kheer (rice pudding cooked in sugarcane), makki roti, jaggery mixed with dry fruit, home made fresh makhan and home made lassi.
The students of Satluj Public School, Sector 2, Panchkula welcomed them with tea, gur para. They entertained them with ‘Jhankar Beats, Haryanvi, Himachali, Punjabi and Karnataka’ folk dances. School faculty presented a skit based on the happiness for grand parents. Everybody liked the efforts of the students, the faculty and the school management.
Pritam Singh Serai, Director of Satluj Public School, Sectors 2 and 4, Panchkula said, “We are pleased to observe Grand Parents and Senior Citizens Day. Our Scholars listened to the words of wisdom and experiences of their grand parents and shared smiles with them. It is an effort to impart value education to our scholars in a concrete situation.”
The event concluded with a wonderful cultural items of the senior citizens directed by Mrs. Satinder Trikha, an eminent social worker of Sector 4, Panchkula.
