210 left in fray in Haryana

A total of 210 candidates are left in fray in Haryana, after withdrawal by 30 candidates today, to contest Lok Sabha elections from 10 constituencies in the State. When the nomination papers were securitinised on Monday last, 240 candidates were left in the fray in the State.
The contesting candidates include14 women with a maximum of three from Bhiwani-Mahendergarh, two each from Karnal,Gurgaon and Faridabad. Each of the five constituencies of Ambala, Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Hisar and Sonepat have one female candidate in the fray.
The State had witnessed a highest number of 324 contesting candidates in General Elections of 1989 followed by 294 in 1996 and 200 in 1984. The number of such candidates was 198 in 1991, 160 in 2004,140 in 1998 and 137 in 1980. There were 114 contesting candidates in 1999, 67 in 1967 and merely 63 in 1971.
With Haryana becoming a separate political entity of the Indian Union in 1966, the State had witnessed it’s first Lok Sabha Elections in 1967. At that time Haryana had a total of nine Parliamentary Constituencies with two of them reserved constituencies. Although the State had a total of nine Parliamentary Constituencies during the General Elections of 1971, it had one reserved constituency. It was in the year 1977 that General Elections in Haryana were contested for 10 Parliamentary Constituencies including two reserved and since then this number has not changed.
There were a maximum of 1,23,20,557 voters including 56,59,926 women in Haryana during the General Elections of 2004. As compared to it, there were a minimum of 43,86,711 voters, including 20,57,182 women in Haryana during Lok Sabha Elections in 1967. In the 2009 Lok Sabha Election Total Number of voters would be 12063257 including 6578272 Men and 5484985 Women electoral.
The seven candidates who are now in fray from Ambala Parliamentary Constituency included Km. Selja of Indian National Congress, Mr Chander Pal of BSP, Mr Rattan Lal of BJP, Mr Dalvir Singh of Haryana Janhit Congress(BL), Mr Hem Raj of Lok Jan Shakti Party and independents including Mr Amar Singh and Mr Narender Kumar.
In Kurukshetra Parliamentary Constituency, now 14 candidates are in fray. They included Mr Gurdayal Singh of BSP, Mr Naveen Jindal of INC, Mr Jaswant Singh of HJC(BL), Mr Ashok Kumar Arora of INLD, Mr Pardhan of Samajwadi Party and independents included Mr Vishnu Bhagwan, Mr Subhash Mahendra, Mr Atam Parkash, Mr Virender Singh, Mr Yash Pal, Ms Suneeta Dhariwal, Mr Ashwani, Mr Ran Singh and Mr Tarsem Lal.
Twentyfour candidates who are in fray from Gurgaon Parliamentary Constituency included Mr Inderjit Singh of INC, Mr Sunil Yadav of Samajwadi Party, Mr Narvir Singh of HJC(BL), Ms Sudha of BJP, Mr Zakir Husain of BSP, Mr Dinesh Chander Yadav of Nationalist Congress Party, Mr Yash Pal of Lok Jan Shakti Party, Mr Ishpal Singh Tomar of Rashtriya Dehat Morcha Party and independents included Mr Kusheswar Bhagat, Ms Bimla Devi, Mr Budh Ram, Mr Satish Kumar Singh, Mr Balwant Singh Aggarwal, Mr Prabhu Lal Batra, Mr Satender Singh Thakran, Mr Manbir Singh, Mr Amar Mohammad, Mr Nazir Ahmad, Mr Naveen, Mr Jagan, Mr Satbeer Singh Kundu, Mr Dinesh Chander Yadav, Mr Rakesh and Mr Naresh Yadav.

In Karnal Parliamentary Constituency, 23 candidates have been left in fray. They included Mr I.D. Swami of BJP, Mr Virender Kumar of BSP, Mr Arvind Kumar Sharma of INC, Mr Mam Chand and Mr Pawan of Communist Party of India, Mr Rajeev of Samajwadi Janata Party (Rashtriya), Mr Hawa Singh of Rashtriya Janhit Party, Mr Ram Pal of Rashtriya Sahara Party, Mr Ramesh Kumar of HJC(BL), Ms Kalpana Singh of Republican Party of India (Sivaraj) and Mr Manoj Kumar Kashyap of Vanchit Jamat Party. The independents included Mr Ramesh Singla, Mr Sushil Kumar, Mr Lal Singh, Mr Shiv Parsad, Mr Ashok Kumar, Mr Balwan Singh Ruhal, Mr Anoop Singh, Mr Narender Saroha, Mr Sanjeev, Ms Mukesh Kumari and Mr Dushyant Kumar and a Shiv Sena candidate Mr Prem Kumar.
Sixteen candidates who are now in fray from Rohtak Parliamentary Constituency included Mr Sudesh of Republican Party of India, Mr Nafe Singh of INLD, Mr Deepender Singh of INC, Mr Raj Kumar and Mr Karan of BSP, Mr Krishan Murti of HJC(BL) and independents included Mr Anup Singh, Mr Satyawan, Mr Karan Singh, Mr Rishal Singh, Mr Asha Nand, Mr Sudesh K. Aggarwal, Mr Rajbir, Mr Jasvir, Mr Ashok and Mr Jasmer.
In Sirsa(SC) Parliamentary Constituency, the 15 candidates who are in fray included Mr Rajesh Kumar of BSP, Mr Swarn Singh of Rashtriya Janhit Party, Mr Ram Kumar of Communist Party of India(Marxist), Mr Ashok Tanwar of INC, Mr Sita Ram of INLD, Mr Rajendra Prasad of HJC(BL), Mr Hans Raj of Republican Party of India, Mr Raj Kumar of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and independents included Mr Jaibir Singh, Mr Shankar Lal, Mr Vazir Singh, Ms Pushpa Rani, Mr Narender Pal, Mr Des Raj and Mr Pawan Kumar.
The 23 candidates who are to contest from Faridabad included Mr Chander of HJC(BL), Mr Babu Lal of Janata Uday Party, Mr Ram Chander of BJP, Ms Rekha Singh of Smast Bharatiya Party, Mr Chetan of Bahujan Samaj Party, Mr Mukesh Kumar of Haryana Raksha Party, Ms Lata Rani of Samajwadi Party, Mr Gajender Singh of All India Forward Block(Subhasist), Mr Devinder of Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Mazdoor Congress, Mr Nisar Ahmed of Rashtriya Naujawan Dal, Mr Avtar Singh Bhadana of INC, Mr Suraj Bhan of Rashtriya Janadhikar Party, Mr Subhash of Rashtrawadi Sena. In Sonepat Parliamentary Constituency, 21 candidates who are in fray included Mr Jitender Singh of INC, Ms Sushila of Jan Chetna Party, Mr Devraj Deewan of BSP, Mr Om Parkash of Bharatiya Congress, Mr Sukhbir Singh of Nationalist Congress Party, Mr Gejender of Krantikari Jai Hind Sena, Mr Kishan Singh Sangwan of BJP, Mr Raj Pal of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)(Liberation), Mr Umesh of HJC(BL), Mr Rajender Singh of United Women Front, Mr Jyoti Parkash of Samajwadi Party, Mr Krishan Kumar of Lok Jan Shakti Party, Mr Rohtash of Smast Bharatiya Party and Mr Madan Gopal of Rashtriya Dehat Morcha Party. The independent candidates included Mr Shiv Narayan, Mr Bijender Kumar, Mr Birender, Mr Dharamvir, Mr Balwan Singh, Mr Rajesh and Mr Dalvir.
