15 crore UGC grant for MDU

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved grant of Rs. 15 crore 12 lac 50 thousand for Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU)Rohtak for the eleventh plan period.
MDU Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.P. Hooda said that UGC has allocated Rs. 10 crore 72 lac 50 thousand as General Development Grant, Rs. 4 crore 35 lac as Merged Schemes Grant and Rs. 5 lac for Internal Quality Assurance Cell. This grant has been approved on the recommendations of the UGC Visiting committee which visited MDU during Aug. 14-14, 2008. Notably, the Visiting Committee has appreciated the significant achievements made by MDU in several fields such as introduction of new courses, increase in number of teaching faculty, research publication/project(s) great number of academic activities including organization of workshops/seminars/conferences by the university etc.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.P. Hooda, while appreciating the UGC allocation grants, said that the grant amount will be utilized for development works, including campus development, library needs (books/journals), purchase of latest equipments, developing central facilities, etc. Dr. Hooda stated categorically that he was committed to build excellent physical infrastructure on the campus and develop a stimulating academic environ so that MDU emerges as a Centre of Academic Excellence in times to come.
