CHANDIGARH, July 20

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has sanctioned a grant of Rs. 10.83 crore under 11th Plan General Development Grant Allocation to Guru Jambheshwar Science and Technology University (GJSTU), Hisar.
While disclosing this today, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr.Davender Dayal Singh Sandhu said that out of the total amount sanctioned by the UGC, over Rs. 5.12 crore had been sanctioned under General Development Grant Scheme, which is 150 per cent more as compared to the amount sanctioned during 10th Plan.
Similarly, over Rs. 5.65 crore had been sanctioned for various amalgamated schemes, which is 255 per cent more as compare to the amount sanctioned for these schemes during 10th Plan. Besides, a sum of Rs. five lakh had also been sanctioned for the first time for Internal Quality Assurance Cell, he added.
It may be recalled that a High Powered Committee of UGC under the chairmanship of Prof.R.P.Singh, the former VC of Lucknow University, visited the GJSTU, Hisar last year to know its requirements and UGC has sanctioned the grant on the basis of the recommendations of this Committee.
The High Powered Committee of UGC was all praise for the achievements of the University. As per the recommendations of the Committee, the University has the capacity to make its marks in the field of Science and Technology at both National and International level.
