Guru Jambheshar Varsity gets Rs 15 lakh grant

Distance Education Council, New Delhi has given a development grant of Rs. 15 lakh to the Distance Education Department of Guru Jambheshwar Science and Technology University, Hisar for the year 2009-10.
While stating this today, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr.Devender Dayal Singh Sandhu, said that out of the total amount of the grant, Rs. six lakh had been given for the development of course material and quality assurance measures, Rs. 2.25 lakh each for Students Sports Services, National Technology Sports System and Research & Development. Rs. 1.5 lakh had been given for the library and Rs. 75,000 for staff training and development.
He said that 17 courses being conducted by the Distance Education Department of the University had already been recognised by the Distance Education Council for the academic session 2009-10 to 2011-12. Guru Jambheshwar Science and Technology University, Hisar was the first University of Haryana whose Distance Education Department had been granted recognition by the joint team of the University Gram Commission, All India Council for Technical Education and Distance Education Council.
The courses being conducted by the Distance Education Department of the University include M Sc. Computer Science, Master of Computer Applications. five-year integrated MCA, MA (Mass communication), Master of Insurance Business, Master of Business Administration, M.Sc. Mathematics, Master of Commerce, PG Diploma in Computer Applications, PG Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations, PG Diploma in Taxation, PG Diploma in Bakery Science and Technology, PG Diploma in Environment Management, Bachelor of Business Administration, BA (Mass Communication) , PG Diploma in Councelling and Behaviour Modification and PG Diploma in Industrial Safety Management.
As many as 30,000 students are getting education in different courses conducted by the Distance Education Directorate of the University.
