CHANDIGARH, FEB 27

While commenting on the Chief Minister’s largesse for ‘VIP’ college appearing in a English daily on February 27, Dr. M.S. Malik, IPS (Rtd.), President, Jat Sabha Chandigarh and Federation of Jat Institutions has appreciated the generosity shown by Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda for announcement of liberal grant of Rs. 92 lakh from Haryana Government and Rs. 11 lakh from Chief Minister Fund for a single VIP college falling within the Parliamentary constituency of his son.
Similarly, he also appreciated the liberal grant of Rs. 21 lakh announced from MPLAD scheme by a Rajya Sabha M.P for the same college at the same time, date and common platform.
However, Dr. Malik lamented a partisan approach of Haryana Government for adopting pick and choose policy for announcement and release of discretionary grants to private institutions for promoting sports and education.
He further urged that the state government should avoid such selfish approach and should not play politics particularly in the matters regarding promotion of sports and education. Such like parochial approach is not only prejudicial to the promotion of sports and education in the state but the same also demoralizes the budding youths of the state.
He further pointed out that no such levis/liberal grants has either been announced to such like institutions dealing with sports and education in areas falling in the districts of Jind, Bhiwani, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Mahendargarh. Mewat, Gurgaon, Faridabad and so much so even the rest of Haryana in the last five years.
It has also been noticed that even the grants announced by various other former and sitting M.P.s of Rajya Sabha i.e. Sarvshri Harender Malik, Ajay Singh Chautala and S. Tarlochan Singh to Ch. Bharat Singh Memorial Sports School, Nidani Distt, Jind and other places in Haryana have either not been released and if released, partial amount was released on account of petty political interests.
So much so, that this particular School i.e. Ch. Bharat Singh Memorial Sport School, Nidani, Distt. Jind has attained international standards by producing more than 100 international wrestlers and other sports persons but this school has been deprived off technical and other infrastructural assistance i.e. non-providing of coaches etc. by Sports Authority of India and also by the Haryana government since the year 2005 due to political reasons.
