Qualifications for steno-typists, stenographers upgraded in Haryana

CHANDIGARH, Feb 11

The Haryana Government has upgraded qualifications for the post of steno-typist and stenographers in the State.
A letter to this effect, which is addressed to all the Financial Commissioners and Principal Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Divisional Commissioners and Sub Divisional Officers(Civil), has been issued by the Chief Secretary, Mrs.Urvashi Gulati.
As per letter, qualifications for the post of Steno-typist category for all Departments of Haryana Government will be graduation from any recognised university or its equivalent, knowledge of Hindi/Sanskrit upto Matric standard, Hindi shorthand of 64 words per minute and transcription thereof at 11 words per minute on manual typewriter or 20 words per minute on computer with commonly used word processing
software and the English shorthand should be 64 words per minute and transcription thereof at 15 words per minute on manual typewriter or 35 words per minute on computer with commonly used word processing software.
The upgraded qualifications of Stenographers would include graduation
from any recognised university or its equivalent and knowledge of Hindi or Sanskrit upto Matric standard. Also, the speed of Hindi shorthand should be 80 words per minute and transcription thereof at 15 words per minute on manual typewriter or 25 words per minute on
computer with commonly used word processing software. The candidate should possess English shorthand speed of 80 words per minute and transcription thereof at 20 words per minute on manual typewriter or 40 words per minute on computer with commonly used word processing software.
All the departments have been asked to amend relevant Service Rules
accordingly within a period of two weeks positively under intimation
to the Government.
