5162 qualify for second round of SPAT

As many as 5,162 players have qualified for the second round of SPAT (Sports & Physical Aptitude Test) to be held from 15-17 May, 2010. The qualified players scored over 65% in the tests conducted by the department of sports. As many as 73,912 players had got registered for SPAT 2010 in the state between notified periods of 1-10 April 1 to 10.
A Government spokesman disclosed that 2,707 of qualifiers are in 8-14 years age-group, 2,455 are in 14-19 years. Among the qualifiers, 797 are girls and 4,365 are boys. All the candidates scoring upward of the qualifying mark of 75%+ in the second round would be entitled for scholarship as per the government's policy. 41,361 players had braved the heat of summer and reported for the SPAT at different venues. 6,196 candidates failed to submit the duly filled registration forms, resulting only 35,165 players were left for consideration.
Bhiwani, Rohtak and Sonepat districts contributed maximum number of qualifiers in first round with selection of 1,012, 814 and 615 players. In Mewat, Faridabad, Kaithal & Ambala district players fared badly as only 16, 20, 34, 45 players respectively could pass the SPAT first round. Government spokesman disclosed that Faridabad could have fared better but its 2,321 participants did not fill up age column, making it impossible for age-dependent marking system to progress any further.
Results of 6,196 who registered/reported after the due date of registration, that is April 10, 2010, or who have taken the test but their application forms were incompletely filled are under process and shall be made available on the website. The department wishes them good luck for SPAT, 2011 due in Oct-Nov, 2010 as in this financial year it is considering for second round only 5,162 of those who have filled their application forms duly, applied between April 1 to 10 cared to take the test and have scored 65% onwards.
