Making a record breaking achievement, two students of the Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology (BMB) of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar have bagged Junior Research Fellowship 2010 of the Department of Biotechnology, Union Ministry of Science and Technology.
According to Dr. Santosh Dhillon, Dean, College of Basic Sciences of the university, the two students of the Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology have, for the first time, got a place in the merit list of the DBT-JRF 2010 examination conducted at the National level. She said that Jogender Singh and Swati Shalini had scored second and 80th rank respectively in the said exam in category A merit list.
She said that both the students had also cleared CSIR-NET and GATE examinations recently scoring 6th and 18th (Jogender Singh) and 94th and 54th (Swati Shalini) ranks respectively.
Dr. Dhillon said that the Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology (BMB) which was established in 1997 at the university was known for its excellence in research and teaching. Most of the students passed out from this Department had been occupying responsible positions in the prestigious institutes and universities at the national and international levels, she added.
