Jaskaran leading in Panchkula Chess

PANCHKULA, May 13

Jaskaran of Chandigarh was leading with four points in the Under-19 category of the Panchkula District Open Chess Championship U-7, 11, 15, 19 and Open being organized by the Chess Association of Panchkula at St. Teresa Convent School in Sector 25 here today.
Nikhilesh and Akshit Gupta, both of Bhawan Vidyalaya of Sector 15, Panchkula were occupying the second and third positions with 3.5 and 3 points, respectively.
At the end of fifth round, Vilakshan Mehta of The Gurukul School, Sector 20, Panchkula was the sole leader in boys under-7 with five points. One point behind him was his team mate Yaakshayam Vats.
PDCA Vice-president Sanjeev Chopra and Director Principal of School.Amit Chopra, were the chief guests at the inauguration ceremony.
Scores: U-7 (boys): 5 points Vilakshan Mehta (The Gurukul-20, Pkl), 4 Yakshayam Vats (The Gurukul- 20, Pkl), 3.5 Sartaj Kalsi (The School-8 Pkl), 3 Karan Sharma (The Gurukul-20, Pkl), 2.5 Chirag Jindal (The Gurukul-20, Pkl).
Girls: 1 Jahnavi (The British School-8, Pkl), 2 Partiksha (The Gurukul-20, Pkl).
U-19: 4 Jaskirat (Chandigarh), 3.5 Nikhilesh (Bhawan Vidyalaya-15, Pkl), 3 Akshit Gupta (Bhawan Vidyalaya-15, Pkl) and 2.5 Ankit Jain (Bhawan Vidyalaya-15 Pkl).
