the Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department has invited applications or nominations on prescribed proforma from the eligible persons for Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award,2010.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that those who have made outstanding performance in the field of adventure activities on land, sea or air and have qualities of leadership were eligible for this award.
He said that the award carried a cash prize of Rs five lakh, a bronze statuette and a blazer with a silken tie or a sari. The award had been instituted by the Government of India to recognize the achievements of persons in the field of adventure and to encourage young people to develop the spirit of endurance, risk taking, teamwork and to effectively meet challenging situations.
The spokesman said that all the District Sports and Youth Affairs officers in the State have been asked to forward the nominations of the eligible persons to the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs by March 16, 2011 so that the same could be forwarded to the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports by March 31, 2011.
