CIDC Award to Haryana PWD (B&R) for Nirman Sadan Building

PWD (B&R) Haryana has been awarded as CIDC Vishwakarma Award 2011 for Nirman Sadan (Head Office Building of the department in Sec-33/A, Chandigarh) by the CIDC in the 3rd CIDC Vishwakarma Award 2011 ceremony held on 7th march 2011 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The chief guest was Prof. Saugata Ray,  Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Government of India. CIDC has been setup jointly by the Planning Commission, Govt. of India and the Indian construction industry which is working towards making the Indian Construction Industry more professional, competitive and in larger interest of society and the nation. This building was also awarded as the best building in India in Institutional category last year by the IBC (Indian Building Congress).
Nirman Sadan Building was constructed in on 3.19 acres plot with covered area of 1.15 lacs Sqft area in Sector 33-A Chandigarh in the year 2009 with three blocks, 6 storied, 2 storied and 4 storied. This building has been constructed with personal initiative of Mr Mahesh Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief of PWD (B&R).
Innovative ideas like earthquake resistant building, green building concept, barrier free environment, energy efficient building, provision of rain water harvesting system, solar water Heating system, CC TV cameras, biometric access control with sensor doors, energy efficient lighting, LAN, EPABX systems, beautiful landscapes, basement is well ventilated with natural light and most economical construction. This is the first building of its kind in the region.
