Virat Sawrup of Lord Krishna at Brahmsarovar

A huge statue depicting  Lord Krishna's 'Virat Sawrup' will be installed at Brahmsarovar complex  in holy town of Kurukshetra at a cost of Rs six crore to attract pilgrims.
  A decision to this effect was taken in the 78th meeting of the Kurukshetra Development Board held under the chairmanship of Haryana Governor  Jagannath Pahadia here today. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was also present in the meeting.
   A decision to double the annual plan budget of Kurukshetra Development Board from Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 5 crore  was also taken in the meeting.  The budget of Geeta Jyanti Utsav organized every year had also been increased from Rs 30 lakh to Rs one crore. Also, it was approved to prepare a documentary to highlight the significance of Kurukshetra and the places of pilgrimages spread over an area of 48 kos around holy town of Kurukshetra.
  It was also decided to give pension to the employees of the Board on the pattern of government employees. Similarly, the condition to collaborate with the development of Jyotisar pilgrimage had been removed in the lease deed signed with the Tirumala Tirupati Devsathanam Trust for the construction of Bhagwan Venketshwar Temple.
Finance Minister  Harmohinder Singh Chatha urged for paying special attention to the development of Pehowa in the meeting. To this he was assured by the Chief Minister, Mr Hooda  that special emphasis would be laid on its development. Mr Hooda also added that there would not be any dearth of funds for the development of the sacred town of Kurukshetra.
   Earlier, Mr Pahadia said that the efforts of the State Government had yielded encouraging results and Kurukshetra had emerged on the tourism map of the world. The places of pilgrimage developed and restored around Kurukshetra included Som Tirth Pandu-Pindara, Lokodwar Tirth Lodhar, Kapilmuni Tirth Kalayat, Rinmochan Tirth and Rasina. He appreciated the concern of Mr Hooda for developing Kurukshetra.
   It was informed  that out of Rs eight crore sanctioned to the Board for the restoration and development works, a sum of Rs two crore had already been released.
 Others present on the occasion included MLA Ashok Arora, the Chief Secretary, Mrs Urvashi Gulati, Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Retd. Lt General, Dr D. D. S. Sandhu, Secretary to  Governor and Member Secretary, Kurukshetra Development Board, Mr  Mahendra Kumar and Chairman Guljari Lal Nanda Foundation, Mr D. P. Upadhya.
