Haryana to introduce new science and commerce stream Govt Sr Secondary schools

The Haryana Education Department has decided to introduce a new science stream in 351 Government Senior Secondary Schools and Commerce stream in 97 similar schools in the State. To begin with, it has been decided to utilize services of meritorious retired Science  and Commerce Lecturers from the Higher Education Department, School Education Department and Technical Education Department till the regular Post-graduate Teachers or Lecturers are not put in place.
While stating this here today, Director General School Education Mr  Vijayendra  Kumar said that as per the guidelines issued in this regard, the Principal of the school is authorized to engage the teachers keeping in view the enrollment of children in the school. In case of student teacher norms to be followed,  each section would be of 40 students. Second section would be allowed after 60 students and third section would be created after the students' number exceeded 120.
He said that these offers would firstly be made to retired post-graduate teachers or  Lecturers who had received National or State Awards and who enjoyed an excellent reputation for knowledge in the subject and who had excellent academic results. The applicant should fulfill all the qualifications prescribed for the post as laid down in the service rules for direct recruitment. However, the relaxation would be permissible in case of college teachers because they possess qualifications as prescribed under UGC Rules
The period of engagement of these teachers will be up to the end of first semester and can be extended depending upon the requirement. In case there are more than one post-graduate Teacher or Lecturer applicant for any one school then preference will be given to higher academic excellence.
The teachers engaged on guest faculty will be paid an honorarium at a rate of Rs 200 per period. Post-graduate teachers or Lecturers will have to teach two periods per day for Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology  and post-graduate teachers or Lecturers of Commerce or Economics would teach three periods per day. A monthly learning evaluation of all the children in the science stream shall be got conducted though SCERT or an external agency or by  Directorate of Secondary Education. If the performance of the children is not upto the mark the concerned faculty shall be removed forthwith.
