Free uniforns for class 1-V students in Govt Schools in Haryana

Apart from free text-books, all students from Class 1 to Class VIII in government schools all over Haryana will be provided free uniforms from the new academic session. Presently, free uniforms are given only to the Scheduled Castes and BPL students.
        This was disclosed by Haryana Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal, while speaking to media persons at Jhajjar, today. She said that transport policy had been framed to ensure safe transportation of children to and from schools.
        She said that the Haryana Government was promoting education in a big way. New experiments are being made to strengthen the education system. In this direction, several amendments have been made in the recruitment rules of teachers. The recruitment process has already been set in motion with the constitution of Teachers Selection Board.
Mrs Bhukkal said that computer education was being promoted among children and new computers had been provided in 2,662 schools. The
process for recruitment of computer teachers has been initiated and several other significant steps have been taken to promote technical education.
         Mrs. Bhukkal said that provision had been made to provide tool-kits to students at the time of admission in Industrial Training Institutes. Tool-kit machines would also be provided to girl students.
Earlier, these were provided at the time of passing the institute.
         In reply to a question, she welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court of India on the Right to Education Act. She said that a meeting of State Education Ministers to discuss the norms under the RTE Act would soon be held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Mr. Kapil Sibbal, where she would make suggestions on the provisions in the RTE Act.
         Haryana is a leading state in implementation of the RTE Act in the country. The Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, wanted to make the state an education hub and steps were being taken in this direxction, she added.
