Mrs. Bhukkal said that the Chief Minister had also approved to delete the clause in the notification of Haryana Education Rules under which women teachers were barred from joining duty if they were more than 12 weeks pregnant. Now onwards, there would be no such bar for pregnant women for joining the services as teachers.

As per the notification earlier issued in this regard, “the posts in the Department of Secondary Education shall be filled on contract basis initially for one year which may be extendable on year-to-year basis. Provided that for the extension or renewal of contract period on year-to-year basis, the concerned District Education Officer shall issue a certificate that the contract appointee had performed satisfactory service. The contractual appointee shall be paid fixed contractual emoluments and no other allied benefits such as senior or selection or assured career progression scales etc shall be given.”
According to earlier provisions, the selected woman candidate had to submit a certificate of her fitness from a Civil Surgeon.
