Blood and eye donation camp at Vivekanand Millennium

PINJORE (HARYANA), JULY 29
Blood and Eye Donation Camp was organized at St. Vivekanand Millennium Scfhool, HMT Township, Pinjore in collaboration with Blood Bank, GMCH, Sector 32,  Chandigarh  under the aegis of Vivekanand Chhattr Utthan Manch (VCUM)  on Sunday, 29th July 2012. It was a most commendable initiative taken to serve the humanity.
The chief motive of VCUM is to imbibe the feelings of love, affection, goodwill and co-operation among the students’ community.  The VCUM is marching ahead with devotion and dedication to realize its goals with the joint endeavours of the students, parents, teachers and the school management.
In addition to Parent-Teacher Meeting, a free Eye Checkup Camp by Himachal Eye Hospital, Kalka and a free Dental Checkup Camp by Bhojia Dental College, Baddi, was too organized for the parents of the students.
As per the data available, India requires 6.5 million units of blood every year.  VCUM is committed to shoulder this responsibility and serve the ailing mankind by organizing such camps from time to time.  And, it will leave no stone unturned to make the people realize the paramount importance of this priceless charity.
Blood and Eye donation is the supreme donation and is the most sacred service that we can render to the society.  As many as 75 Units of blood were collected and 90 people gave their consent to donate eyes.  The students volunteered with pleasure for co-coordinating the event and played a pivotal role in persuading the donors to donate blood and eyes for a noble cause.
Dr.(Col) G.P. Taneja, Secretary, Haryana State Red Cross Society, Chandigarh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, with his benign presence.  The Guest of Honour was Swami Anupamanandji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Chandigarh.
Each donor was provided refreshment after the Blood Donation, Certificates of Appreciation and momentoes were awarded to the facilitators to recognize their valuable contribution. Special awards were given to Group-D and Staff members of School who donated blood. Every donor was gifted a sapling to plant to make Mother Earth a better place to live in.
