Haryana polio free since January 2010

 Haryana has been a  Polio free State since January 2010 and no case of polio has been  found in the State.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of  National Rural Health Mission, Haryana denied reports that appeared in a section of the Press that Sneh, daughter of Mr. Sher Singh, a resident of village Darbarki Khurd in district Karnal was suffering from Polio.
          He clarified that Sneh was notified by Dr Dahiya, Paediatrician and investigated by Dr Shashi Prabha, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Karnal on November 18, 2011 and found to be Non Polio Entero Virus (NPEV) under the registration No IND-HA-KNL-011-032.
         The spokesman said, “This is a case of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP). We do surveillance of Polio by reporting and investigating all AFP cases. There are many causes of AFP and all  AFP cases are examined in the laboratory to confirm whether it is a case of Polio or not. As many as 519 cases have been reported in current financial year from April, 2012 till date. The case of Sneh is one of them, which is Non Polio Entero Virus”.
          He said that all the children are given polio drops with DPT along with the zero dose of Polio under the routine immunization. On National Immunization Day and Semi National Immunization Day, oral Polio Drops are given to every child upto the age of five years on the booth day and door-to- door day. Haryana State is Polio free since January 2010, we are committed to make Haryana State Polio free, he added.
