CHANDIGARH,SEPT 13
The Haryana Excise and Taxation Minister,
Mrs. Kiran Choudhry, is visiting Canada and Japan in connection with a study
tour of Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers from September 12 to 26,
2012. The Committee was constituted for the purpose of induction of Goods and
Services Tax (GST) programme.
While
stating this here today, an official spokesman said that Mrs. Choudhry would
participate in various meetings in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Tokyo during
tour programme of Empowered Committee. The Minister would return on September
27, 2012.
It
may be recalled that Mrs. Choudhry has repeatedly urged the Central Government
to give a compensation of about Rs.3000 crore to the State on account of
Central Sales Tax (CST) till the introduction of GST so that the state did not
suffer financial loss.
