Work on Fatehabad Nuclear Power Plant begins on Sept 6

Work of Nuclear Power Plant at Fatehabad district would commence from September 6 at village Gorakhpur in the presence of officers of district administration and  NPCIL and farmers of Gorakhpur village. In the first phase, topographic survey and soil studies would be conducted.
A meeting to chalk out the framework of works to be carried out for setting up this Nuclear Power Plant was held today at Fatehabad in which Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Prahalad Singh Gillankhera, Deputy Commissioner Fatehabad, Mr M. L. Kaushik, Chief Project Engineer, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL)  Mr. T.R. Arora, Chief Project Manager NPCIL,  Mr. S. K. Gomasta, farmers of Gorakhpur Narender Singh, Satpal Singh, Kashmir  Singh, Satyawan, Jitender, Suresh Kumar, Anil Kumar, Rajaram and Randhir participated.
It was informed that In the first phase  NPCIL would start the process of topographic survey and soil studies which would be conducted through DBM technique, Mumbai. Besides, survey work of tubewells, dhanis, kachha houses, hand pumps, trees, gardens, underground pipeline belonging to farmers would start from September 10 onwards for which a team consisting of Sub Divisional Magistrate, Superintending Engineer (PWD), Tehsildar, Deputy District Attorney, Divisional Forest Officer and District Horticulture Officer had been constituted. This team would submit its report to District Administration by September 25 so as to provide early compensation to farmers.
         Mr. Gillankhera said that villagers of Gorakhpur had created a history by giving their land for this Nuclear Power Project. They had become partners in development. He assured the farmers that all their demands regarding development of village would be fulfilled by the district administration, NPCIL and the State Government. Apart from employment, all modern facilities would be provided in the village, he added.
         All the demands raised by Gram Panchayat and farmers including developing Gorakhpur as Model Village would soon be implemented. Apart from this, direction had been issued to concerned officers for providing other amenities in the village. Developmental works would also be carried out in nearby villages of Gorakhpur. Compensation would immediately be given to farmers after the survey report. A details scheme was being envisaged for providing qualitative technical education to village children and for setting up hospitals, veterinary hospitals, street lights, modern parks, drainage system and pavement of streets.
It was informed that most of the farmers had already taken compensation in lieu of their acquired land for this project. As many as 838 farmers had so far received compensation amount of Rs. 410.99 crore for their 1337.37 acres of land acquired for this purpose. He said that 689 farmers of village Gorakhpur had received compensation amount of Rs.372.10 crore for their 1210.84 acres of land. Similarly, compensation over Rs.37.58 crore had been given to 122 farmers of village Badopal in lieu of over 122.29 acres of  their land. In case of village Kajalheri, 27 farmers had received over Rs.1.3 crore for their 4.24 acres of land.
