CHANDIGARH, OCT 29
ThecHaryana Government has decided to conduct reverse tracking in cases of Anemia and give incentive to doctors trained in Emergency Obstetric Care (EmOC) and Life Saving Anesthetic Skills (LSA) in the State.
While giving this information today, Health Minister Rao Narender Singh said that concrete steps have been taken by the State Government to encourage institutional deliveries and to make the delivery of pregnant women more safe. He said that steps have been taken to make the pregnant women more responsible and aware towards their health, provide proper care to the pregnant women suffering from Anemia.
Rao Narender said that doctors were also being encouraged to ensure safe delivery of the pregnant women. This  scheme has been started to provide a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs. 2000 to EmOC and LSA trained doctors. He made it clear that this amount would be in addition to their salary. Apart from this, a sum of Rs. 400 would be  given per caesarean to EmOC and LSA trained doctors. He said that the maximum payment to these doctors would be Rs. 5000 per month.
The Health Minister said that during the current financial year, the State Government has implemented a scheme namely ‘Surakshit Maa Award’ in four districts namely Mewat, Palwal, Jhajjar and Bhiwani. He said that the aim of the scheme was to promote early ante-natal registration in these districts and also to encourage pregnant women for medical checkup from time to time.
High  percentage of severely anaemic patients has come to notice who are arriving in the labour rooms for delivery. In such cases, besides preventing the loss of blood during delievery , blood was also made available to them. Despite   that, there was morbidity and mortality in these patients. The main reason of such cases was that the patients have not been managed properly for anaemia during the ante-natal period. Therefore, Reverse Tracking of such pregnant women has been initiated under which pregnant women coming to District Hospital with less than 7gms Hemoglobin were being reverse  tracked. Medical Officer and ANM have been made personally responsible for managing the severely anaemic patients.
He said that under the scheme, pregnant women who report for ante-natal registration in the first trimester would be eligible for this award. Out of all the women registered in the first trimester in a month at the Sub-centre, a draw of lots would be conducted at the end of the month and three of them would be eligible for utility items like utensils, containers or food items like one kg of Desi Ghee worth Rs. 300.
