Haryana farmers to visit Narora Automic Power Plant

With a view to acquaint the farmers of Gorakhpur in Haryana, where a nuclear plant is to be set up, with the benefits of such power plants, a group of 40 farmers of Gorakhpur left for Narora Atomic Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh. Their group was flagged off by additional Deputy Commissioner, Fatehabad Mr Rajiv Ratan.
          The officers of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Information, Public Relations and Cultural Affairs, Police and Revenue Departments also accompanied the delegation of farmers.
 While addressing the farmers,before their departure, Mr. Rajiv Ratan said that the farmers of villages Gorakhpur, Kajalheri and Badopal have done a commendable work by providing land for the Nuclear Power Plant. He said that to acquaint the farmers with the functioning of Nuclear Power Plant and the development that has taken place in the nearby areas, three groups of farmers would visit   Narora Power Plant. The first such group would leave for that plant today.
Mr. Rajiv said that the farmers had desired that a visit should be arranged  to acquaint them with the working   of a Nuclear power  Plant. The NPCIL has prepared the programme of visit for the farmers. He said that during the visit, the farmers would also share their views with the scientists, technical experts working in the Atomic Power Plant there and would also clear their apprehensions. Besides, the farmers would also meet the people who have to migrate due to the setting up of the Naroro Power Plant.  They would also observe the development in the nearby areas, he added.
He said that the similar visits would also be arranged for representatives of media.
