Haryana Government upgrades 2102 schools

The Haryana Government has upgraded 2102 schools from the year 2006 to September 2012 to strengthen the school education network across the state.

          While stating this here today, Education Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that during this period, Government had upgraded 1301 primary schools to middle schools, 294 middle schools to high schools and 507 high schools to the level of senior secondary schools. She said that at present the recruitment of teachers was in process. More schools fulfilling the norms would be upgraded after fresh recruitment, she added.

          Mrs. Bhukkal said that the state had a well-established network of educational institutions. The high level education facilities were available within in radius of 1.44 kilometer in the state whereas it was available within a radius of three kilometer at national level. Presently, there were 3451 government and aided schools functioning in the state. Similarly, senior secondary schools were available in a radius of 2.08 kilometers in the state while the same availability rate at national level is five kilometer. There were 3244 senior secondary government and aided schools in the state. Haryana had made a special recognition in terms of education in the country on the basis of educational norms, she added.

She said that Haryana was fast emerging as an education hub in the country and now special emphasis was being laid on making quality education accessible and affordable to all students in the state

          The Minister said that Haryana was the first state in the country where unique schemes in education sector had been launched. With a view to control the dropout rate of students belonging to poor families in government schools, the government had started scholarship schemes right from the beginning of first class wherein scholarship of Rs.150 per month each was being given to girl students and Rs.100 per month each to boy students. Monthly scholarships were being given to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and living below poverty line families. About 20 lakh students had been availing the benefit of this scheme.  In addition, job oriented courses had also been introduced in educational institutions in the state.

          Mrs. Bhukkal said that he State's endeavor had been to offer best educational infrastructure to its students. A number of new educational institutes of international repute were being established in the state.
