Hooda announces expansion of Phalgu Tirath in Kaithal

CHANDIGARH, OCT 15
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced that the ‘sacred sarover” of famous “Phalgu Tirath” at Pharal in district Kaithal would be expanded by three times in view of its immense religious significance and increasing rush of pilgrims. Also, 24 more ghats would be constructed to facilitate the pilgrims. A sum of Rs 1.5 crore would be spent on  this project.  
          At present the “sacred sarover” covers an area of two acres, but it would be expanded to six acres.
          Mr. Hooda was interacting with the media persons soon after performing “pooja” and offering  “pind daan” at the “Phalgu Tirth” today.
          Mr. Hooda said that on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya, a huge Mela was organized at the world famous Phalgu Tirath, where lakhs of devotees arrive  to perform pind daan for the spiritual peace of their ancestors. Mr. Hooda said that the number of devotees had been increasing over the years as devotees throng the sacred sarover from all over the country to have a dip in holy water. He said that the next Phalgu Mela would be organized in the year 2015 and then in 2027.
          Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Sultan Singh Jadaula, MLA Mr. Zile Ram Sharma, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender Singh, former MLA Mr. Dinesh Kaushik, Inspector General of Police Mr. Balvir Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Chandershekhar, Superintendent of Police Mr. Kuldeep Singh Yadav and other senior officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
