Mandatory for cable operators to carry Rajya Sabha Television

CHANDIGARH, OCT 31
The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has made it mandatory for all cable operators to carry Rajya Sabha Television on their networks.
          Stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a notification in this regard has also been issued by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
He said that as per the notification, the channel would be re-transmitted on the cable network service in non-prime band upto 450 MHz in areas where digital addressable system has not been introduced in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 4A of Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995. However, in case of areas where digital addressable system has been introduced, the channel would be compulsorily carried in the basic service tier, he added.
The Rajya Sabha Television is a 24X7 television channel of the Rajya Sabha which is available of the same frequency on which the DD-Rajya Sabha is being transmitted by the Doordrashan, he added

The Haryana Government has nominated Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Department as the President of Coordination Committee of Shivalik Development Board.
          The Government has also nominated Mrs. Kamla Rani, General Secretary, Kanya Gurukul, Khanpur Kalan, Sonipat as nominee of the Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidayalaya Khanpur Kalan on the court of Vishwavidayalaya for a term of three years and Executive Council for a term of two years with immediate effect.
 Facilities  for persons with disabilities
With view to facilitate persons with disabilities, Haryana Town and Country Planning Department has incorporated a clause in the zoning plans of public building including health care centres.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Department said that the clause states, “You shall follow provisions of Section 46 of 'The Persons With Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995' which includes construction of ramps in public buildings, adaption of toilets for wheel chair user, Braille symbols and auditory signals in elevators or lifts and other relevant measures for hospitals, primary health centres and other medical care and rehabilitation units."
He said that instructions to this effect have been circulated amongst all Senior Town Planners, District Town Planners, District Town Planners at the headquarters and the Drawing Branch. However, he said that the Department has made and implemented provisions of National Building Code   and is also mentioning the clause in the zoning plans of public buildings in respect of IS Code no. 1963-1987 (provisions for physically challenged persons).
