Police officers to visit villages and towns under their jurisdiction

 Haryana Director General of Police R. S. Dalal today said that Haryana Police has launched a special state-wide drive under which all police officers  of the ranks from Inspector to Inspector General of Police would visit all villages and towns under their respective jurisdiction to ascertain the activities of loafer youth and those having   anti-social behavior and keep an eye on such elements.
Mr. Dalal, who  was interacting with Range IGPs, Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police through video-conferencing here today said that the police officers  would also meet  prominent  persons in their areas  to know the activities of such youth   so that timely action could be taken against them in case they are found indulged in criminal activities.  
          Mr. Dalal also directed them to   contact with principals of women educational institutes under their respective jurisdiction during the campaign and also deploy police personnel in civil uniform in areas adjacent to  these institutes so that cases of eve teasing could be checked. Also, information would be sought from girls about any youth  trying to tease them. If such cases were found,  the police would take action against such loafers,he added.
He said that during the campaign, these police officers would provide the telephone numbers of eminent persons of villages and towns to police control room so that police could remain in touch  with them to find out activities of anti social elements, if any, in their area.
          Mr. Dalal directed all officers to strictly deal with cases of crime against women. However, the incidents of crime against women had   reduced by 15 per cent this year in the state as compared to that of last year but happening of some untoward incidents in this direction is a matter of serious concern.  He said that causes of such incidents had been analysed in today’s meeting where it was found that loafer   youth were involved in   heinous crimes.
          The DGP directed the officers that they would regularly visit villages and towns in their respective areas and identify the loafer youth. Apart from this, regular and surprise checking of farms, huts at tubewells, small grocery shops and dhabas would be made by  police and strict action would be taken against those who were found involved  in unauthorized sale of liquor, drink  or make offer to drink liquor at such places.
          He also instructed them to further strengthen the intelligence system in villages and towns so that information about activities of loafer   youth could be timely available and action under Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) could be initiated against them.
          Mr. Dalal also directed to start special drive in villages and towns so as to check the drunken driving. He said that   heinous crimes should not   occur and timely stern action should be taken against those who were involved in such criminal activities.
                    Additional Director Generals of  Police Mr. M.S, Mann and Mr K. Selavraj and Inspector General of Police Mr. S. S. Deswal were also present on this occasion.
