Voters list of all Assembly constituencies published

The Chief Electoral Officer,Haryana, Mr. Shrikant Walgad  today said that as per directions of the Election Commission of India, the voters’ lists  of all assembly constituencies in the State have been published on October 1.
          While referring to the various aspects concerning the draft publication of voters’ lists, he said that all those eligible voters who would be 18 or above on January 1, 2013 and have not names included in the lists could get their names entered by applying in prescribed Form No.6 by October 31, 2012. The form would have to be submitted to the concerned polling level officer or Electoral Registration Officer at the designated polling booth. They will also have to submit two passport sized coloured photographs, proof of age and residence. In addition to it, any person’s name has been deleted from the list, he would have to submit photo copy of the voter ID card already issued to him. If any ineligible person’s name is entered in the voters’ list by October 31, 2012, application could be submitted on Form No.7 to get it deleted. If the details of any voter are not correctly mentioned, an application could be submitted on Form No.8A by October 31, 2012. If any electoral has changed his residence, he would have to submit Form No.8 to get his address corrected. This form would have to be submitted by October 31, 2012 to the concerned polling officer of the area. He said that the prescribed Form Numbers 6, 7, 8 and 8A would be made available free of cost at the polling centres.
          He said that special campaign would be launched on October 7, 14 and 21, which are Sundays and on these days Polling Level Officers would be present at the polling stations between 9 a.m and 5 p.m. to give these forms to the people. These forms were available at the website of the department www.ceoharyana.nic.in and applicants could also send their forms online to concerned Electoral Registration Officer.
          He said that a voter could get his details in voter list by sending an SMS to 92151-56503. For this, one has to type VOTEHRY. While revising voter list, department would inform the voter about receiving the form, acceptance of form and making of voter card. Therefore, voters should mention their mobile number in Form number 6.   
          He said that as per the directions of the Commission, the status of all the forms would be available on the website. He urged the people and political parties to review the draft of voters list before its final publication and should bring any objection into the notice of concerned Electoral Registration Officer. He said that toll free number 1950 was also available for the facility of common people.
         He urged the people to avoid registration of their names at more than one place or getting their names registered inspite of being ineligible as it was an illegal and punishable offence.
