Governor to present Bhim Awards on January 3

CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 1
 Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia will confer “Bhim Puraskars” upon outstanding sports persons of the State at a function to be organized at Haryana Raj Bhawan, here tomorrow. The function will be presided over by Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
          While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department said that earlier this function was scheduled to be held on January 3, 2013.
          He said that Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Sukhbir Kataria would be the guest of honour and Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mr. Prahlad Singh Gillankhera would also be present on the occasion.
          He said that those sportspersons who would be honoured with Bhim Puraskar included Jitender Kumar of district Bhiwani for boxing, women wrestler Kumari Nirmala Devi, Om Prakash of Gurgaon for athletics, Dhruv Gautam of Faridabad and Kumari Yashdeep Kaur of Sirsa for roller skating hockey and Paralympic player Rajesh Kumar of Sonepat for athletics.
          He said that the each sportsperson would be honoured with Rs two lakh in cash, an idol of Bhim, letter of appreciation, blazer and tie or scarf. He said that the performance of these players was outstanding during the last year and by winning medals at international and national level they have brought laurels not only to the State but also to the entire nation.
