Haryana launches EBT scheme

Haryana today became the first State in the country to launch  Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) scheme  for Central Government Special Coaching Scheme of Union Ministry of Labour and Employment for student beneficiaries of Hisar as they were  paid using the AADHAAR payment bridge system. The money was transferred to their AADHAAR Linked Accounts.
          The scheme was launched by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda at a function at IMT Manesar in district Gurgaon in the presence of Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India, Mr Nandan Nilekani, Director General UIDAI Mr R. S. Sharma, and Rao Inderjeet Singh, MP from Gurgaon.
The students were able to withdraw their scholarship amount  through AADHAAR enabled Micro ATMs just by providing their AADHAAR numbers and using their fingerprints.
Mr  Hooda also  laid the foundation stone of Unique Identification Authority of India’s data center at Manesar.           
While interacting with the mediapersons after laying the foundation stone of the Center, Mr Hooda said that this data center would serve as central repository for UIDAI to store the residents basic demographic and biometric information captured while issuing 12 digit AADHAA number to each resident across India. It will support application for enrolment and  authentication services.
            Mr Hooda said that till now, AADHAA cards have been issued to 21 crore residents of the country and the remaining people would be covered in due course of time. The basic information of all the residents from all over India would be stored in this Center. He said that the UIDAI has preferred to set up its national level center in Haryana, which is a great honour for us. All residents of the country would be benefitted with  this center.
           The Chairman of UIDAI Mr Nandan Nilekani apprised Mr Hooda that the Data Center would come up on five acres of land provided by the Haryana Government and it would be a state-of-the-art, captive green data center as per global standards and guidelines. This will be most energy efficient data center in India and would be equipped to provide round-the-clock monitoring and operation support. Tt the data center is expected to be completed by  June, 2014.
            The Director General and Mission Director of UIDAI Mr R.S. Sharma said that the data center would be reviewed by the Uptime Institute, USA for a Tier III certification and the Indian Green Building Council would review the center for purpose of awarding a gold rating Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design  for green building. The data center will be one of the most green and efficient data centers in the country. Further, to ensure utmost security, the data center is housed in blast proof concrete structure adhering to design as per seismic zone-5 compliance requirements. village Manesar, where Mr Hooda announced to set up an English Medium Model School. It will be managed by Gram Panchayat, Manesar and reputed educational society will be associated with the Gram Panchayat for providing guidance to provide quality education to the students.
            On this occasion, MLA Badshahpur Rao Dharampal, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender,  Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr Chattar Singh and other senior officers were also present.
