Hooda urges private sector to assist in healthcare facilities

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today urged the private sector to assist the government in providing affordable healthcare facilities to the poor.

          Mr Hooda was addressing a gathering after inaugurating 505-bed  multi-specialty Rockland Hospital at Manesar  today.

         Mr Hooda that India is witnessing a boom in the healthcare sector as we are endowed with a large pool of qualified professionals, including medical professionals, but a vast majority of our population is still not able to access medical care facilities. These facilities are either not available or are not affordable to the poor people and the state government is focusing on providing state of the art health facilities at affordable cost and making these services easily accessible to the poor.

          Mr Hooda said that Haryana government has adopted two pronged strategy to provide affordable health care facilities. “On one hand, we are promoting medical education to increase the capacity and on the other we are implementing innovative schemes to serve the people”. He said that Pt B. D. Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Health Sciences has been upgraded to a University of Health Sciences. Four new Medical Colleges are being setup and AIIMS-II has already started functioning at Badhsa, he added.

          Mr Hooda said that Gurgaon has emerged as a corporate capital, a hub of industry and health destination, where people from across the world come to get treatment. The setting up of health care institutions will further strengthen its public health care system to match with its rapid pace of urbanization, he added.

          Lauding the private sector’s contribution, the Chief Minister said that India is emerging as a major health tourism destination. Tertiary care private health institutions in Haryana are contributing to make the state a preferred destination for specialized health care and many such institutions have come up in the state. These efforts by the private sector would supplement our initiative to make Haryana a hub of health sector in the days to come, he added.

          Mr Hooda said that Haryana is all set to become education hub of international stature in next five to seven years. He said that universities and institutions of national repute have been setup in many parts of the state and many more were coming up in other parts. He also referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Education City, National Defence University, National Institute of Design, which are coming up at Sonepat, Gurgaon and Kurukshetra respectively.

          Haryana Health Minister Rao Narender, MP Shadi Lal Batra, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Rao Dan Singh, MLAs Rao Dharmpal and Aftab Ahmed, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Chhatar Singh, Rockland Health Group Chairman Rajesh Srivastva, Media Personality Rahul Dev, Alok Mehta, former AIIMS Director P. K. Dave and senior officers of the State Government were also present on the occasion.

 He also visited Fortis hospital in Sector 44 of Gurgaon and   saw the facilities being provided to the patients by the hospital.
