HFDA raids 16 chemist shops in Rewari City

Following repeated complaints of sale of intoxicants and sub-standard drugs, special teams of 17 officers of Haryana Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided 16  shops of chemists at various places in Rewari city and took samples of 34 drugs for analysis.

          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the FDA said that it was for the first time that  raids were planned  on such a large scale   and were also successfully executed. The raids were conducted in different localities in Rewari namely Ambedkar chowk, Naiwali, Sabji-Mandi, Civil Hospital, Circular Road and Bassitab Rai Mohalla. During the raids numerous violations to the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act were observed.

The teams seized M/s Pulyani Medicos, after finding gross irregularities like illegal sale of medical intoxicants and unlicensed manufacturing of allergy creams. The owner of M/s Pulyani Medicos was also present during the raid.

At the chemist shops seized with huge   quantity of medicines were found having stocks for sale labeled as “Physician’s Sample Not for Sale”. A chemist M/s Aggarwal Medical Bureau situated at Bacitab Rai mohalla, had kept huge quantity of “Pysician’s Sample Not for Sale” in a sofa set.The drugs seized from both chemists have been produced before Duty Magistrate, Rewari.

The officials of the FDA, including Assistant State Drug Controller M.P. Gupta, three senior Drug Control Officers Manmohan Taneja, P.S. Rathi and KS Godara and 13 drug control officers Rakesh Dahiya from Jhajjar, Gurcharan Singh from Panipat, Suresh Chaudhary from Fatehabad, Krishan Kumar from Faridabad-2, Sandeep Galhan from Faridabad-1, Amandeep from Rewari and Sandeep Hooda from Sonepat, Hemant from Ambala,Pooja from Gurgaon,Rajneesh from Hisar,Vijay Raje from Sirsa,Mandeep Mann from Rohtak raided the shops in different areas.

He said that there were repeated complaints of sale of intoxicants and sub-standard drugs. Such types of raids will be conducted in future also.  The FDA has warned the erring chemists to stop malpractices otherwise strict legal action would be taken against the defaulters.
