Rich tributes paid to freedom fighter Ch Ranbir Singh

 A condolence meeting was organized on the death anniversary of great freedom fighter and member of Constituent Assembly Ch. Ranbir Singh at his ‘Samadhi’ situated at Ch. Ranbir Singh Town Park, Rohtak today.

       Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda accompanied by his wife Mrs. Asha Hooda and other family members paid rich tributes to Ch. Ranbir Singh and also participated in Yajna performed on this occasion. Large number of prominent personalities also paid tributes and remembered the great freedom fighter.

       Among others who paid tributes included brother of Chief Minister Mr. Inder Singh Hooda and Dharmender Hooda, Health Minister Rao Narender Singh, Cooperation Minister Mr. Satpal Sangwan, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Jaiveer Singh, MLAs Mr. B.B. Batra, Prof. Sampat Singh, Mrs. Shakuntala Khatak, Dr. Raghubir Singh Kadian, Shri Krishan Hooda, former Minister Mr. Krishanmoorti Hooda, Mr. Subhash Batra, former MLAs Dr. Virender Pal, Mr. Sant Kumar, Principal OSD to Chief Minister Mr. M.S Chopra, senior Congress leader Mr. Kuldeep Singh Nambardar,  OSD, CM Residence Mr. Ravinder Hooda, Mr. Surender Pawar, Mr. Suryadev Dahiya and other senior officers of the district administration and other dignitaries.

RICH TRIBUTES PAID TO Dr KALPANA CHAWLA

Rich tributes were paid to NASA astronaut late Dr. Kalpana Chawla throughout Haryana to mark her 10th death anniversary. In this regard a programme was organized at Tagore Bal Niketan School, Karnal. It may be noted that Dr. Chawla was an alumni of this school.

          Addressing the children at school, MLA Mrs. Sumita Singh said that they could also bring laurels to the country with will power and working hard like Dr. Chawla. They should take inspiration from her and try to become successful in their lives.

          On this occasion, Mrs. Sumita Singh honoured two outstanding students of the school namely Shubham Sen and Samriti Sandhan with Kalpana Chawla Award under which they were given cash prize prize of Rs 21000 each, letters of appreciation and souvenirs.

MORE AIR CONDITIONED BUSES FOR GURGAON BUS SERVICE

As many as 50 new air conditioned buses would be added to the fleet of Gurgaon city bus service from first week of March 2013. This would raise the number of buses to 300.

          While stating this today, a spokesman of Haryana Government said that at present 180 buses are operational on 12 different routes and plan was also being prepared for the expansion of these routes. For this, survey work has already been started for which a committee under the chairmanship of Transport Manager has been constituted. Representatives of drivers, conductors and of other wings have been included in the committee.
CONSTRUCTION OF ANGANWADI CENTRES

Construction of Anganwadi Centres and sports stadiums would now be permissible under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

          While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Government said that with the inclusion of these new works the pace of development of villages would be accelerated.

          He said that under MGNREGA target has been set to spend Rs 70 crore on various developmental works of rural areas in district Sirsa and so far Rs 34.70 crore has already been spent. He said that Rs 5.30 crore has been spent in Badaguda block, Rs 4.84 crore in Dabwali block, Rs 5.37 crore in Elenabad, Rs 5.44 crore in Nathusari Chopta, Rs 6.28 crore on Odhan block, Rs 4.4 crore on Rania and Rs 3.37 crore on Sirsa block.

GOVT APPOINTS 21 PROTECTION CUM PROHIBITION OFFICERS

Chandigarh, Feb 1- Haryana Government has appointed 21 Protection cum Prohibition Officers (PPOs) at district level to implement the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.

          While stating this today, Director General, Women and Child Development Department, Mrs. Sumita Misra said that the office of Protection-cum-Prohibition Officer is located in the office of Superintendent of Police in each district. She said that PPOs work in cooperation with their subordinate staff to ensure effective implementation of these Acts. She said that Home Department has also provided one male constable and one female constable for their assistance. One Consultant has been appointed to co-ordinate with concerned stakeholders at headquarter, she added.

          Mrs. Misra said that 24 organizations are registered as Service Providers under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. All Government Hospitals, Community Health Centres and Primary Health Centres are notified as Medical Facility. She said that Mahila Ashrams of Rohtak and Karnal and Kasturba Sewa Sadan of Faridabad are notified as shelter home. Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai has been engaged for training and capacity building of PPOs, she added.

          She said that during 2012-13 (Up to December, 2012), PPOs dealt with 5624 complaints of domestic violence. She said that 1532 Domestic Incident Reports were recorded by PPOs. In 519 complaints, PPOs filed Applications (form II) in courts on behalf of victims. In 380 complaints, PPOs conducted enquiries on court orders. She said that 1948 complaints got mutually resolved between the parties. During this period, PPOs dealt with 186 complaints of Child Marriages and 27 complaints of child marriages were prevented with injunction, she added.
