Sarpanches urged to speed up development in villages

 Haryana is the first state in the country where sarpanches have been empowered with financial powers to carry out various developmental works.
Addressing the sarpanches of sub division Samalkha, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Haryana Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Mr. Ram Niwas said this at Samalkha, district Panipat today.
He issued directions to the concerned officials to get the various proposals regarding rural development passed by the panchayats and get the same endorsed by the government so that funds could be issued for these development works before March 31. He urged the sarpanches to further accelerate the pace of development in the villages so that Haryana could make a mark in the field of rural development at national level.
Laying emphasis on the importance of sanitation, he said that it was his dream that every village of the district should be honoured with Nirmal Gram Award. He said that to encourage the sarpanches, panches and officials who have made significant contributions towards sanitation, an award function would be organised in the month of May. Referring to the issues like drainage of water, graveyard and land acquisition of plots to the poor, he issued directions to the Deputy Commissioner of the district to carry out necessary investigation at the earliest and send the proposal to the government so that these issues could be redressed quickly. He also gave detailed information about various schemes being implemented by the state government for rural development.
