5th CIDC Vishwakarma Award 2013 for Haryana PWD (B&R)

  PWD (B&R) Haryana won the 5th CIDC Vishwakarma Award 2013 for New District Jail Rohtak &Haryana Govt. Housing Complex at Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi. by the CIDC in the ceremony held on 7th march 2013 at Stein Auditorium in India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The Chief Guest was Sh. Pranav Sen, Advisor to Planning Commission, Govt. of India. CIDC has been setup jointly by the Planning Commission, Govt. of India and the Indian construction industry which is working towards making the Indian Construction Industry more professional, competitive and in larger interest of society and the nation.
CIDC (Construction Industry Development Council) Vishwakarma Awards are inspired by the spirit of construction and creation patronized by Lord Vishwakarma, the ruling deity of construction practices in India. Each year, this even is hosted in March by CIDC, the apex body that’s dedicated to work relentlessly toward promoting best practices with in the Indian construction industry. The work and achievements of individuals and organizations are recognized and applauded.
This building was also awarded as the best building in India in Institutional category last year by the IBC (Indian Building Congress).    
The new district Jail at Sunaria in Rohtak has been constructed in an area of 86 Acres with cost of 43 Crores and capacity is 1350 prisoners. 51 Acres land is used for Jail complex and 35 Acres is used for residential complex. The site is nearly 8 K.M away from the Rohtak city. The land of site was very uneven and in shape of tibba hips. Outer boundary wall is 18’ high and 4360 Rft length and inner boundary walls of 12’ high having length 9415 rft in between barracks and other components of Jail is also constructed for security purpose. 102 houses for Staff have been constructed. It is earthquake resistant building with beautiful landscapes. CCTV cameras have been provided.
          The Haryana govt. housing complex at Shalimar Bagh New Delhi has been constructed in a piece of land measuring 3.00 Acres with cost of Rs. 24 Crores. 200 Apartments for Haryana govt. Employees working in Delhi have been constructed. Long standing demand of employees has been fulfilled by the govt. as per directions of Haryana C.M. Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
This building has been constructed with personal initiative of Sh. Mahesh Kumar, Engineer –in-Chief of PWD (B&R). Innovative  ideas like Earthquake resistant building,  Green building concept, Barrier free environment, Energy efficient  building,  provision of Rain water Harvesting system, Solar water Heating system, CC TV cameras, energy efficient lighting, LAN,EPABX Systems, beautiful landscapes.
