The Haryana Education Minister, Mrs Geeta Bhukkal, said that National Law University would be set up at a cost of Rs 190 crore at Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonepat.
Mrs Bhukkal was replying to a question asked by MLA Mr B. B. Batra during ongoing budget session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
She said that a provision of Rs five crore has been made for setting up of this university during the current financial year and it would be set up on an area of 25 acres of land in the premises of Rajiv Gandhi Education City. She said that the drawing and layout work for setting up of the university was in progress and the admissions would be started from the academic year 2015-16.
In reply to a supplementary question raised by Panchkula MLA Mr D. K. Bansal, the Education Minister said that a written communication was sent to Bar Council of India for starting classes of Law Colleges at Panchkula, but no approval was given by the council. She said that government would open law colleges in the state.
