Govt to strengthen power supply infrastructure in villages

By Haryananewswire
CHANDIGARH, APRIL 6
The Haryana Government  has a plan to strengthen power supply infrastructure in all villages with application of new technology so as to give safe and reliable power supply to all villages on urban mode.
This was stated by Mr. Deepender Singh Hooda, Member Parliament while addressing a public meeting after inaugurating new power distribution system laid by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam in village Chirod near Hisar today. The 11 KV feeder Chirod, feeding villages of Singhran and Chirod is the first electricity feeder of Haryana to have the safe and reliable power distribution system of the modern technology.
Mr. Deepender Singh said that for taking power supply on urban mode, the villagers are required to reduce the aggregate technical and commercial losses   to a level below 25 per cent at their feeder. The new model of power supply would help reduce these losses thus helping the villagers to bring down the losses to less than 25 per cent enabling them to get power supply on urban mode. The new system is being laid with the consent of the villagers. The hours of supply are being increased immediately after receiving the consent.
He said that a general programme of strengthening the system is already going on in villages and urban localities all over the State under which up to Rs 20 lakh are being spent in each village or urban locality. The general programme of strengthening the system is likely to be completed by the end of June, 2013.
Prof. Sampat Singh, MLA said that the government intends to give power supply round-the-clock on urban pattern to all the villages, but for that the villagers are required to bring down aggregate technical and commercial losses below 25 per cent. He said that there are 11 villages in his constituency  that is  Nalwa having less than 25 per cent aggregate technical and commercial losses  which should be given supply on urban mode by getting fulfilled all the conditions of the scheme. He said that all the village Panchayats in Nalwa Assembly constituency agree to get installed the new system of power supply in their villages, thus, Nalwa would be the first constituency in Haryana to have this system and power supply on urban mode. He asked the villagers to bring down such losses in all the 53 villages of Nalwa constituency and make Nalwa as the first constituency in Haryana to have round-the-clock power supply on urban mode. He said that under the ongoing programme of strengthening and renovating the programme, each village would get additional transformers, poles, cable and conductor  as per the requirement.
He said that theft of power was the major hurdle in supplying interruption free qualitative power round-the-clock. People should come forward to check theft of electricity.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Devender Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, DHBVN and UHBVN said that to minimize interruptions in power supply, improve voltage, eliminate the problem of overloading of the system, minimize supply related complaints of consumers and minimize possibility of accidents, the Haryana Power Distribution Utilities have decided to create the new distribution system in all villages, with the consent of the villagers.
He said that the new scheme of power supply is likely to evoke enthusiastic response of the villagers as about 500 villages have already agreed to get the new system of power supply.
Mr. Devender Singh said that the new model of power supply would benefit the consumers as they would get quality power   with better voltage.  As the problem of overloading is likely to be eliminated with creation of new system, the damage rate of transformers and other equipment will also minimize significantly.
He said that the preliminary results of the new system in villages Chirod and Singhran are enthusiastic as load on the system has reduced to nearly half and number of connections has increased by 164. There is no  unauthorized connection  in the villages at present. Now  the number of complaints of interruption in power supply is almost nil and hours of power supply have been increased from previous 11 to   24 at present. The total consumption of electricity and aggregate technical and commercial losses have also reduced on the feeder considerably.
He said that the pilot project launched on a complete and independent 11 KV feeder Chirod would help in accurate and  authentic energy audit. Under the new system of power supply, the low tension distribution system is being re-laid and meters are being shifted to pillar boxes. As many as 56 pillars have been installed at the villages to relocate all the meters. Under the new system, the low tension portion of supply will be minimized, naked conductor will be replaced with insulated cables, meters would be relocated in pillar boxes outside the houses and proper energy audit and indexing of installations is required to be ensured.
