Steps for making more transparency in sports department

The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda today launched the website (www.haryanatransport.gov.in), e-payment gateway and SMS facility of the regulatory wing of the State Transport Department so as to facilitate the citizens by providing various services online and bring in more transparency in the functioning of the Department.
          The Chief Minister appreciated the initiative of the Department and said that the people would be immensely benefitted with these services.
          Principal Secretary, Transport, Mr Hardeep Kumar said that with the launch of the web portal, the people would not have to now visit the Registering or Licenses offices as they would be able to avail the services even while being at home.
          He said that the website would have the facility of services for citizens as well as enforcement agencies. The services for citizens would include e-payment of the road tax of transport vehicle, search of vehicle detail by registration number, procedure of getting learner licenses, driving licenses (regular), downloadable forms relating to vehicle and driving licenses, information of fee and taxes concerning the Department. It would also provide services like information on road safety, telephone directory of the Department, citizen charter and all motor vehicle related Acts and Rules.
          Haryana Transport Commissioner, Mrs Sumita Misra said that services for enforcement agencies included State Vehicle Register to know detail of any vehicle, State Register of Driving Licenses, revenue collection reports, accounts report for department and search facility for vehicle details with various search criteria that is by colour, make, which are useful for enforcement agencies.
          As a result of the SMS service introduced for citizens and enforcement agencies, now all information concerning registered vehicles can be received through SMS by sending a SMS request on mobile number 9212357123 in the prescribed format (VAHAN). Also, the SMS would be sent automatically from VAHAN System to the citizens on their mobile phone numbers on receipt of fee / tax for any vehicle related transaction like new registration, transfer of ownership and change of address. Now the citizens need not visit the office of any authority to know the status of their application regarding registration work of vehicles as SMS would be sent to the citizen on approval by the authority automatically.
          The e-payment gateway launched today by the Chief Minister would be for online payment of road tax of transport vehicles through State Bank of India Internet bank account.
          Mrs Misra said that the revamped website has been developed by NIC Haryana and the e-payment gateway has been launched through State Bank of India for which a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Transport Commissioner, Haryana.
          She said that the regulatory wing of the Transport Department has, in coordination with Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, already implemented the standard software VAHAN and SAARTHI in offices of all Regional Transport Authorities and Sub Divisional Magistrates throughout the State. The Transport Department has a plan to soon add more citizen centric services to facilitate the common man.
          Senior officers of the State Government were present on the occasion.
