Haryana to open 27 new schools in economically backward blocks

In Haryana, 27 new schools would be opened in the economically backward blocks during the year 2013-14 under Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalayas scheme.
          While giving this information here today, Education Minister, Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalayas were being set up in the state under the Central Scheme with a view to provide modern education upto eighth class to the girls belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, other backward classes and minority communities. A total of 36 such schools would be opened in Economically Backward Blocks in the State. Out of which, nine such Vidyalayas had already been opened in district of  Jind, Kaithal, Mewat and Palwal which had been upgraded to senior secondary schools.
           She said that as many as 630 Child Care Centers were being run in 393 Model Cluster Schools of 31 blocks falling in ten districts to promote girls’ education upto primary level under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). As many as 14,572 children were being benefited under it. Apart from this, summer camps had been organized during summer vacations for girls in which training related to traffic rules, bank transactions, opening an account in post office and health were given to 47750 students.
          She said that 393 Meena Manch had been set up in Model Cluster Schools in the State, where girl students were given training for building self-confidence and to encourage them to continue their studies. Meena Manch promotes the girls to attend schools and grandmother’s days were also observed.
          She said that the budget allocation under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was Rs. 229.19 crore in year 2004-05, which had increased to Rs. 742.77 crore in year 2013-14. She said that free text books and work books were being given to all students from class first to eight under SSA, on which an amount of Rs. 169.03 was incurred from year 2008-09 to 2012-13. Under this scheme, total 1.04 crore students had been benefitted upto March, 2013. Besides, a sum of Rs. 131.70 crore had already been disbursed from March, 2010 to March, 2013 for uniforms. A sum of Rs. 2836 had already been incurred from March, 2005 to June 30, 2013 in the State under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
