BEOs to be provided facility of vehicles in Haryana

 The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, announced that the Block Education Officers (BEOs) in the State would be provided with the facility of vehicle so as ensure effective monitoring of schools.
          Mr. Hooda was presiding over the 5th meeting of General Council of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and 4th meeting of General Council of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Ahiyan here today.
          Mr. Hooda said that they would be provided vehicles on hire basis.
          While taking cognizance of delay in the construction of civil works in the schools, Mr. Hooda directed the Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) who are also the Chairman of SSA at district level to carry out regular monitoring of all the civil works being carried out in their districts concerned. They would also submit detailed reports in this regard to the Head quarter on monthly basis. Apart from this, the Minister Concerned should also be kept informed about the progress of work, added Mr. Hooda.
          Mr. Hooda said that ADCs would also mention in their report, the time period in which the construction work would be completed. “You are not the signing machines else the ADCs should visit the site personally before signing the report and sending it to the Head quarter, said Mr. Hooda.
          When Mr. Hooda was apprised that the ADCs usually carry out field monitoring of ongoing works in the schools in six to eight villages every month, Mr. Hooda said that this number is very less and directed them to carry out inspection in maximum schools falling in their jurisdiction so that civil works in the schools could be carried out speedily.
          In the meeting, the Chief Minister was apprised that out of total 36 Arohi Model Schools to be constructed in educationally backward blocks in the State, three have been completed and eight are near completion. The work on the remaining schools was in progress.
          Mr. Hooda said that though the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation System (CCES) is a good initiative, yet there was a need to create more awareness in the people about this system.
          Principal Secretary, School Education Mrs. Surina Rajan apprised the Chief Minster that the dropout rate of students in the school has been reduced to 2.5 per cent. She said that ‘Pravesh Utsav’ launched in the State to ensure maximum enrolment of students in the Government schools have yielded positive results. 
          Later Mr. Hooda released a booklet ‘An overview of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan since 2002-03’.
          Finance Minister Mr. Harmohinder Singh Chatha, Education Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal, Chief Secretary Mr. P.K. Chaudhery, Principal Secretaries to Chief Minister Dr. K.K. Khandelwal and Mr. SS Dhillon, Deputy Principal Secretary Mr. R.S Doon, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Rajan Gupta, Principal Secretary, Mrs. Dheera Khandelwal, Director, Secondary Education Mr. Chander Shekhar , Additional Deputy Commissioners,  senior officers of various departments , representatives of NCERT and RMSA were also present in the meeting.
