Colourful start to Pinjore Heritage Festival

 The two-day 8th Pinjore Heritage Festival being organised by Haryana Tourism kicked off on a colourful note at Pinjore Gardens, district Panchkula on November 30, 2013. The Festival celebrates the erstwhile heritage of the town and its Mughal Gardens. On the occasion of the Heritage Festival, the Gardens wore a festive look with colourful drapes and flowers adorning the gates and arches of the royal Gardens.
 Talking to newsmen Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation, Mrs Sumita Mishra said that the main objective behind organizing this program is to apprise the people about our culture and heritage in addition to their entertainment. She said that since early morning, the students from various schools of Pinjore, Panchkula and Chandigarh have made a beeline at the Gardens to enroll themselves for various competitions like face painting and Henna application through which the students under various categories have been given a golden opportunity to showcase their hidden talent. The entertaining cultural programmes and folk dances being put up by students and artistes of NZCC, Patiala and NCZCC, Allahabad on the stage had glued the visitors on their chairs.
She said that the added attractions of the Festival are the Food Court where the students from State Institutes of Hotel Management from Rohtak, Panipat, Kurukshetra and Faridabad have rustled up spicy and mouth-watering treats for the visitors. The crafts bazaar had craftspersons from across the country display their arty stuff from jewellery to ethnic wear, accessories and home décor items. She said that very soon an amusement park would be opened adjacent to Pinjore Heritage Garden to attract people and children towards it.
The Festival would conclude on December 1, 2013  from 11 am to 7 pm. Haryana Roadways is also plying special buses to Pinjore Gardens. In Face Painting Competition under Junior Group,     Tanya from St. Vivekanand Millennium School, Pinjore stood first,     Aishwarya, Hansraj Public School, Panchkula and      Asifali, Jawahar Navodya Vidyalya, Mauli Jagran, Panchkula stood second and third respectively. Under Senior Wing,     Mahesh from St. Vivekanand Millennium School, Pinjore stood first and Himani, St. Soldier Sr. Sec. School, Zirakpur and     Jyoti Devi ,Government Sr. Sec. School, Basola stood second and third respectively.
            In Henna Application Competition, under Junior Wing, Muskan from St. Soldier School, Dhakoli stood first and     Ambani, Nobel High School, Pinjore and     Maya, Girls Government  Sr. Sec. School, Sector 15, Panchkula stood second and third respectively. Under Senior Wing,      Harpreet Kaur, Government Sr. Sec. School, Kalka stood first whereas      Manisha from  Government Sr. Sec School, Pinjore and Mamta from Hindu Sr. Sec School, Kalkastood second and third respectively. In group Dance Competition,   Govt. Girls Senior School, Barwala bagged first position,     St. Vivekananda Millennium School, Panchkula stood second and Hans Raj School, Sector 6, Panchkula stood third. In Solo dance (4-8 years),     Mehak Bakshi, Hansraj Public School, Sector 6, Panchkula stood first and Kanak Hooda, Little Flower School, Sector 14, Panchkula stood second. In Solo dance (9-14 years),     Vaishali, Noble High School, Pinjore stood first,     Shubham, Jawahar Navodaya School, Mouli, Raipur Rani and     Sourabh, City Public School, Pinjore stood second and third respectively.
