Haryana Urdu Akademi invites applications

Haryana Urdu Akademi has invited applications  from Urdu writers to confer  awards instituted by it .Only the writers of Haryana and those who belong to Haryana but are living outside the state can apply for the awards by November 30, 2013
.           While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Akademi said that these awards included Haryana Gaurav Award for life time contribution to enrich Urdu literature and language and carries Rs. 1.50 lakh in cash, a shawl, memento and a citation. Applications  have also been invited for Hali Award for the promotion of Urdu language, especially for significant writing on Hali. It carries   Rs. 1.21 lakh in cash, a shawl, memento and a citation and Kanwar Mohinder Singh Vedi Award for socio-cultural achievement and Sabirdutt Award for social upliftment of women, each carrying Rs. 25,000 in cash,  shawl, memento and a citation .
            He said that Applications have been invited for SMH Burney Award for poetry, Khwaja Ahmed Abbas Award for Urdu prose, Munshi Gumani Lal Award for Urdu fiction, Surinder Pandit Soz Award for the promotion of Urdu in Ambala or its surrounding areas, Urdu Journalism Award, Award for Translation of Urdu in various languages and vice-versa, Jafar Zatalli Award for humour and satire, Award for Children’s Literature, for contribution to promotion of Persian and Arabic, for Gazals or Quwali singing, for contribution to theatre, for Writers or Poets belonging to Haryana but living outside Haryana, writing for the promotion of scientific temper and improvement of environment and Governor’s Nau Amoz Urdu Award for new learners of Urdu language and literature. Each of these awards carry Rs. 21,000 in cash, a shawl, memento and a citation.
