Haryana to give regular pay scales to SSA contractual employees

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the State Government has decided to give regular pay scale to contractual employees of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the State.
Mr. Hooda was addressing the representatives of SSA employees union who called on to thank him for this decision and also giving them other benefits at his residence here today.
          Mr. Hooda said that these contractual employees have been rendering services for the last 19 years but it was the present State Government which acknowledged their contribution and gave them regular pay scale besides other benefits.
Detailing out the decision of the Government, Education Minister Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal said that pay scale at par with that of regular employees has been given to those contractual employees who is associated with SSA for five years. Apart from this, they have also been given annual increase of five per cent.
          She said that similarly, those employees who have been on contract for a period of five to 10 years have also been given regular pay scale along with annual increment of three per cent. Apart from this, they would also get Dearness Allowance as per the government rule, she added. She said that likewise, those employees who have been on contract from more than 10 years have been given regular pay scale alongwith Dearness Allowance and Travelling Allowance.
          Mrs. Bhukkal said that the State Government is providing various other facilities to the employees associated with the SSA. He said that the employees working in this Project have been given the facility of Medial Allowance of Rs. 500 per month or ESI or EPF. Apart from this, the women employees have been given maternity leave of six months.
          She said that the State Government has so far opened 953 Primary and 1714 Middle Schools under the SSA and appointed as many as 7094 Primary Teachers and 9114 Middle Teachers. Apart from this, a sum of over Rs. 3443 crore has so far been spent under the Project from the year 2005-06 to the year 2013-14, she further added. Mrs. Bhukkal said that we have liberally spent on the education so as to ensure the effective implementation of Right to Education Act and other educational schemes.
          While describing SSA as an important project, the Education Minister said that the success of this project depends not only on the children but also on the educationalists framing polices and officers and employees implementing the schemes. She said that it was a matter of pride that Haryana is a leading State not only in implementing SSA and Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan but also in initiating many unique programmes in the field of school education.
          Laying special emphasis on the quality education, she said that qualitative education is among the priority of the State Government. During the last nine years, the State Government has strengthened the education infrastructure at all level. A comprehensive scheme of scholarship has been implemented in the State under which more than 20 lakh children were getting scholarship ranging from Rs. 75 to Rs. 600. For providing quality teachers, a State Level Training Institute has been opened in Jhajjar.  She said that it was a matter of pride that today the State has become an education hub and during the last nine years, the educational structure has witnessed revolutionary changes.
          Director, Sarv Shiksha Abhiya Mr. Pankaj Aggarwal and large number of representatives of SSA, Employees Union was also present on this occasion.
