Nominations can be filed only at the place mentioned in the public notice, and that too, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Mr Walgad said that all contesting candidates would have to deposit the security amount of Rs 25,000. Half the amount (Rs 12,500) will have to be deposited by the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes candidates (even in general constituencies). The security will have to be deposited in cash with the Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer or in the Treasury. Security deposit would not be accepted by cheque or bank draft, Mr Walgad added.
Model polling stations will be set up where better facilities would be made available for voters. Facilities of drinking water and toilets are available in most polling stations in the state.
There are 16,129 polling stations and some more would be set up, Mr Walgad added.
Time for polling at all polling stations has been fixed between 7 am and 6 pm. He urged the people to avail themselves of the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right and cast their vote to further strengthen democracy.
Scrutiny of applications for registration as voters is in process and these would be incorporated in the final electoral roll after the closure of the nomination process on March 22. About 1.4 lakh new voters had applied for voter identity cards up to March 12, 2014. The blind people would also get an opportunity to exercise their
franchise as the Election Commission has decided to provide them with ballot papers in Braille. Blind voters would cast their vote by using
this facility,
Mr Walgad said that Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police concerned had identified sensitive and hyper-sensitive locations. There are 3,200 hyper-sensitive and 3,100 sensitive locations where central forces would be deployed. The state had got 60 companies of central forces which would be deployed in consultation with observers and superintendent of police concerned.
