Teej celebrated with zeal and traditional fervour

CHANDIGARH, JULY 30
 Haryana’s traditional festival of  Teej, was celebrated with zeal and traditional fervour in the premises of Haryana Raj Bhawan here today,which had a festive look.
          Haryana Governor, Mr Kaptan Singh Solanki, was the Chief Guest and the function was presided over by Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
          The colourful festival of Teej was a special attraction, especially for women and children as a number of stalls of bangles and balloons were put up on the occasion. Colourful swings were also another attraction for the participants which were giving a joy ride to them on this occasion.
          The audience was regaled by the artistes from various parts of Haryana who presented a number of cultural items projecting the history, culture and life of the people of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. This variety of cultural programme specifically highlighted the cordial relations between the bride and her mother-in-law. Tasteful cuisines including seasonal sweets were also enjoyed by the visitors.
         The variety cultural programme included Haryanavi Dances- Panghat, Dhamal and Savan; Mayoor Dance of Uttar Pradesh, Giddha of Punjab, Haryanvi Sawan folk dance based on a Teej folk song which is very often sung by the young women of Haryana.
The Governor announced a reward of Rs. Two lakh and fifty one thousand for the participating artistes.
            A number of prominent persons including Lady Governor Smt. Rani Solanki, Lokayukta Haryana Justice Pritam Pal, Political Adviser to Chief Minister, Mr.Virender Singh attended the celebrations.
