Haryana waive off VAT on pulses and abolishes market fee on gur

CHANDIGARH, AUG 3
The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has announced the decision to waive off VAT on  pulses; cut it on mustard oilcakes (Khal) from 5 per cent to 2 per cent; and abolish the market fee on 'Gur.' Besides, market fee on cotton would be kept at 1.6 per cent up to 2015.
          These concessions were announced by Mr Hooda while addressing the state-level Vyapar Mandal Sammelan in Hisar today.  He said that since it was the duty of the state government to provide security to the traders, a coordination committee would be set up at the district level which would comprise officers from the district administration and businessmen.
          Mr Hooda said that he had directed the Director General of Police to issue licenses for weapons to businessmen on a priority basis. The police have been told to pay special attention to the security of commercial areas in the state, for, some anti-social elements may try to disturb the peace during the ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections.
       The Chief Minister said the state government would honour all those businessmen in the district who paid the highest taxes. Haryana today has a congenial and secure atmosphere where businessmen can honestly carry out business and trade. From small to big traders, all are taking advantage of the benefits of the sops given by the state government, he added.
          Mr Hooda promised to meet the demand of the people for the construction of two toilets in Hisar mandi and maintenance of the platform meant for selling vegetables. He gave Rs 10 lakh each for the construction of two gaushalas in the district and also promised  land for the playground of a school located in the mandi area.
          The Chief Minister said that inspector raj had been abolished in the state; Form 38 eliminated and cash memo limit hiked from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000. Those small traders who face loss due to short-circuit in a shop would get compensation of Rs 5 lakh. Schemes have been made for street vendors for which market area would be developed on vacant land in HUDA sectors and committee areas.
          Mr Hooda said that since the formation of the Congress Government in the state in 2005, business environment has changed. Law and order has been established; fear has been replaced by hopefulness; the flight of capital has been reversed; and Haryana has emerged as hub of investment, both domestic and foreign, thanks to the industry-friendly policies pursued by the Congress Government during the last ten years. A new industrial policy was launched for strengthening the industrial infrastructure in the state and industrialists and businessmen have been given various concession and facilities, he added.
