The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed that no photos of political functionaries should be displayed on the beneficiary cards, electricity bills, construction site plaques etc after the Model Code of Conduct in enforced for the ensuing Vidhan Sabha elections.
Giving this information here today, Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Mr Shrikant Walgad, said that beneficiary cards distributed to beneficiaries, construction site plaques etc, erected during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, should not contain photographs or messages of chief ministers, ministers and other political functionaries.
Similarly electricity bills, water bills etc. to be generated after the enforcement of the Model Code should not contain any photographs or messages/symbols of political functionaries/parties, Mr Walgad added.
However, no change is required to be made in the photos of political functionaries on beneficiary cards, construction site plaques etc. which are distributed or erected prior to the enforcement
of the Model Code.
