Elaborate arrangements for counting of votes in Haryana

CHANDIGARH, OCT 18
The Haryana Election Department has made elaborate arrangements for counting of votes in all the 90 Assembly constituencies in the State on October 19.
While stating this today, Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Mr Shrikant Walgad said that the counting would begin at 8 a.m. The initial trends would be available from 9 a.m. onwards and the result would expected to be declared by afternoon the same day. The trend and results will be available on websites www.eciresults.nic.in and www. ceoharyana.nic.in.
He said that about 5000 officials would be put on duty for counting of votes all over the State. As many as 90 Central Observers and 1200 Micro Observers have been deputed by Election Commission of India to monitor counting of votes.
He said that 30 companies of para military forces, which had been guarding the strong rooms where EVMs were stored, would be deployed for the security arrangements to guard the counting centres in addition to State police force. The Haryana Government had already declared October 19 as dry day in the entire State, he added.
NOTICE TO SHARMILA TAGORE: On the directions of Ajai Shankar Pandey, election observer for the Pataudi Assembly constituency, notice for violation of the Model Code of Conduct has been issued to Mrs Sharmila Tagore and her actor-son Saif Ali Khan by the Returning officer-cum-SDM, Pataudi, Mr Virender Chaudhary.
They have been accused of using the loudspeaker, DJ and organising a cocktail party in Pataudi Mahal last evening without obtaining specific permission from the competent authority, and asked to explain their conduct by 3 p.m on October 21, 2014.
According to the directions of the Election Commission of India, the Model Code of Conduct is applicable in Haryana up to October 22, 2014.
PEACEFUL REPOLLING: Re-polling at five polling booths in Ferozepur Jhirka assembly constituency of Haryana was conducted in a peaceful manner today.
While stating this here today, Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana, Mr Shrikant Walgad said that as per the reports received here, tentatively 78.05 per cent voter turnout was recorded at these polling booths.
