Mahesh Kumar elected IRC president


CHANDIGARH, JAN 22
Mr Mahesh Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief, Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department, has been elected as the President of the Indian Roads Congress on the concluding day of its Platinum Jubilee Session at Bhubaneshwar today.
            The Indian Roads Congress (IRC) is the Apex Body of Highway Engineers in the country. Over the years, IRC has grown into a multi -dimensional organisation, devoted to the cause of better roads and better bridges in the country. Indian Roads Congress provides a National forum for sharing of knowledge and pooling of experience on the entire range of subjects dealing with the construction& maintenance of roads and bridges, including technology, equipment, research, planning, finance, taxation, organization and all connected policy issues.
            Earlier, Mr Mahesh Kumar was also elected as Vice President of Indian Roads Congress during 2007-08. He was also selected as President, Indian Buildings Congress in the year 2011. Mr Mahesh Kumar had also been conferred Outstanding Concrete Engineer of award in September, 2008 by Indian Concrete Institute.
            A highly qualified engineer, Mr Mahesh Kumar, 54 years, had served on various positions during last 31 years of his career. He is technical and administrative head of Haryana PWD (B&R).
            Mr Mahesh Kumar has also written several technical and research papers relating to highways infrastructure. He has also been honoured by various prestigious bodies. More than twenty technical and research papers written by Mr Mahesh Kumar had been published in various prestigious journals.
            He is also Convener/Member of various Technical Committees at national/international level. He had been a key note speaker in many technical seminars organized by prestigious organizations.
