Privatisation of Haryana Roadways ruled out

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 13
The Haryana Transport Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, has ruled out privatisation of Haryana Roadways, saying there is no plan to do so. On the contrary, the fleet of state transport is being strengthened by increasing the number of buses from 4,000 to 5,000 in order to facilitate people better and more comfortable travel in the Haryana Roadways buses.
In a statement issued here today, Mr. Sharma said that within six months of formation of the BJP Government, the services of Haryana Roadways had been extended from Chandigarh to Jaipur, and up to Salasar Dham, Balaji and other religious places. This has helped increase people’s faith in the government. The Haryana Rodways buses are better as compared to the buses of other states, and people prefer to travel in them. He promised more buses and more facilities to the people.
Public interest is most important in a democracy and the state government is working to serve the people. He hinted at a new policy to do away with the mistakes made earlier regarding the issuance of private permits. The policy would be based on the provisions of the Central Motor Vehicles Act. It is the duty of the government to comply with the orders of the court. The government intends to recover the losses of the department at the earliest, he added.
